Tanpay® Limited sees a huge growth in the business of card payment systems and POS Infrastructure. The main business objective of Tanpay® Limited is to establish a nationwide merchant and banking network to accept payment for sales, supply of services and\or cash withdrawals through domestic and international payment cards and to acquire from participating merchants and banks the transaction which the payment cards have financed. The infrastructure consists of a network of Point of Sale (POS) terminals installed within the premises of participating merchants and banks. This in effect establishes a communications network and provides the necessary centralised data processing equipment and software with appropriate back-up and disaster-recovery facilities to secure a reliable operation. Such a network allows the use of cards to be commonly accepted and encourages the issuance and usage of the cards in Tanzania.

To make a significant nationwide contribution to the development in Tanzania through a modern money transfer and payment system, for persons who are within as well as outside the gambit of conventional banking facilities. We propose to significantly increase the present number of POS terminals to be used by persons holding payments cards issued by banks participating in Tanpay® Limited and\or by holders of Visa™, MasterCard® or other International cards (to be acquired in the future). Initially within Tanzania, Tanpay intends to acquire from merchants, however, Tanpay also expects to offer participation in its card-transaction-acquiring-business to other authorised banks in Tanzania.
